Established in Sydney, Australia, in 1983, FIX THE WORLD is a global not-for-profit organization dedicated to transforming the human race by addressing the root cause of all human conflict and suffering: the human condition. FIX THE WORLD in particular promotes Australian biologist and author Jeremy Griffith’s breakthrough biological explanation of the human condition, which reveals how the clash between our instincts and intellect led to our species’ angry, egocentric and alienated behavior. This understanding has been described by Professor Harry Prosen, a past President of the Canadian Psychiatric Association, as the “holy grail of insight” required for the psychological rehabilitation of humanity. Jeremy Griffith is an Australian biologist who has dedicated his life to bringing scientific understanding to the dilemma of ‘good-and-evil’-conflicted human condition. Raised on a sheep station in rural New South Wales, he was educated at Geelong Grammar School, conducted the most thorough investigation into the fate of the Tasmanian Tiger, and later completed a Bachelor of Science in zoology at the University of Sydney. In 1983, Griffith established a non-profit organization dedicated to the study and amelioration of the human condition, now called FIX THE WORLD. He is the author of several books, including FREEDOM: The End Of The Human Condition, which presents his comprehensive — and world-transforming-and-saving — account of human behavior. In his ‘Instinct vs Intellect’ explanation of the human condition, biologist Jeremy Griffith — the founder of FIX THE WORLD — explains that the human condition emerged some two million years ago when our newly conscious intellect came into conflict with our older, instinctive drives. Our intellect needs to question and experiment, whereas instincts, shaped by countless generations of natural selection, are rigid strategies that resist such experimentation. This resistance left the intellect feeling unfairly criticized, which in turn produced guilt, insecurity and, ultimately, the defensive behaviors of anger, ego and alienation. Griffith asserts that by understanding this clash, those insecure behaviors are obsoleted, providing a pathway to the resolution of conflict and suffering in our lives and thus the world. Despite the reluctance many have to discussion of the human condition, biologist Jeremy Griffith’s ‘Instinct vs Intellect’ explanation of it — which is advanced through FIX THE WORLD — has been endorsed by an array of renowned scientists such as Professor Harry Prosen (a past President of the Canadian Psychiatric Association), Professor Stuart Hurlbert (a noted ecologist from San Diego State University), Professor Alejo Vidal-Quadras (a nuclear physicist and former Vice-President of the European Parliament), Professor Charles Birch (a Templeton prize-winning biologist) and Professor David Chivers (a past President of the Primate Society of Great Britain). Jeremy Griffith's biological explanation of the human condition reconciles the longstanding “war between the sexes” by clarifying the distinct historical roles men and women adopted as consciousness emerged. Around two million years ago, the development of a conscious mind created a clash between this new self (that sought to understand the world) and our original instincts (that sought to maintain authority), producing humanity's underlying insecurity and upset – our human condition. Men, as group protectors, took on the primary role of confronting this psychological “battle” against ignorance. They endured immense frustration, anger, defensiveness, and egocentric behavior to champion knowledge, shielding women from the full psychological toll. This allowed women to preserve as much upset-free innocence to nurture the next generation. This necessary division bred deep misunderstanding: women often lacked empathy for men’s torment, while men, unable to justify their struggle, grew frustrated, oppressive and aggressive. Women became “victims of a victim”. But with the human condition now explained, both sexes gain profound empathy. Men are honoured for heroically bearing the burden; women for safeguarding nurturing love. This ends blame, resentment, and oppression, allowing men and women to stand side by side in genuine partnership – a cooperative, peaceful future beyond patriarchy or matriarchy. Biologist Jeremy Griffith’s explanation of the human condition brings an end to the Left-Right political divide by revealing the role that both sides played in maintaining humanity’s long, troubled search for self-understanding. Once the true source of our psychological conflict is explained, the opposing political ideologies it brought about are reconciled – allowing the whole divisive business of politics to finally pass into obsolescence. To elaborate, understanding the human condition, as explained by biologist Jeremy Griffith, brings an end to the now deeply polarised world of politics by revealing the true psychological forces that have driven political ideology. Griffith’s breakthrough insight shows that humanity’s long, distressing and corrupting search for knowledge — which arose from a clash between our instinctive orientations and our emerging conscious intellect — produced anger, egocentricity and alienation. From that state, humans oscillated between two basic responses: the right-wing’s uncompromising pursuit of knowledge (often brutal and competitive) and the left-wing’s retreat into idealistic dogma that seemed to make us “feel good” but actually threatened the freedom to think and question. Griffith’s explanation allows us to understand that both sides were historical reactions to our psychologically upset human condition. Now that the right wing’s enabling of the search for knowledge has allowed the explanation of the human condition to be found, the basis for blaming or opposing either side dissolves; the left’s pseudo-idealism and the right’s corruptive search are both brought to an end. With that understanding accepted, the entire divisive business of politics — the left vs right struggle — can finally be brought to a close, and humanity can move forward united. As mentioned, with Jeremy Griffith’s reconciling understanding of the human condition, the insecure, egocentric form of ego, where the ego is centerd or focused on the need to justify itself, naturally dissolves. However, that doesn’t mean all ego disappears. A healthy ego still exists in the normal, positive sense – the conscious mind’s natural sense of self-worth for its ability to manage life – but it is no longer dominated by insecurity or egocentric neediness for reinforcement rooted in overcoming the distress caused by the human condition. To elaborate, once the human condition is understood through Jeremy Griffith’s reconciling and redeeming biological explanation, the insecure and defensive form of ego that has characterized human behavior begins to subside. Historically, what we call “ego” has been a compensatory response to our underlying psychological upset — a drive to defend and validate ourselves in the face of a deep yet misunderstood insecurity arising from our species’ conflicted state. However, this does not mean that all sense of self disappears. A healthy ego remains. In fact, when the underlying insecurity is removed, the conscious mind’s natural sense of self-worth and satisfaction in achievement and our ability to manage life is liberated from defensiveness and egocentricity. What endures is a stable, genuine sense of self — one based not on denial or self-justification, but on understanding. In this way, ego is transformed from an insecure, competitive force into a secure and constructive one. Read more in FIX THE WORLD FAQ 4.6.
